Why do we include disclaimers?

We know disclaimers often trigger the feeling of — “So, what’s the catch?”. There is no catch here, but we do encourage you to read through all of the disclaimers so that you feel educated about what a Design Insider membership includes (and what it does not) and so that you can feel confident purchasing one.

At Design Insider, our goals are to:

•  Increase transparency and access to information

• Educate and empower our users

• Keep things accessible by approaching complicated topics with a conversational tone

• Some of our limitations within those goals include:

  • We cannot act as your attorney or accountant

  • We cannot guarantee that you will be approved for trade accounts or trade discounts

  • We cannot control the way a vendor chooses to do business with you

The information provided on this website does not, and is not intended to, constitute legal advice; instead, all information, content, and materials available on this site are for general informational purposes only. Information on this website may not constitute the most up-to-date legal or other information. What this means as restated in our own words:

We know that consulting an attorney and/or an accountant can feel daunting. And that those services can be expensive. But if you need clarity and support for business incorporation or paying taxes, attorneys and accountants are the best resources to ensure you are following laws and regulations. Some suggestions we can give you for finding these professionals and reducing your investment in their services, include:

• Asking friends or family members for recommendations

• Asking other small business owners for recommendations

• Looking for individual attorneys or accountants instead of reaching out to a large practice

• Checking for attorneys or accountants who live in smaller towns where the cost of doing business is less

• Calling in advance of a meeting and asking questions about fee structures and what you will get for your money

• Be prepared for a meeting by making a list of your questions so you don’t waste any time

• Negotiate flat fees for tasks or monthly maintenance instead of paying an hourly fee

• Don’t be afraid to hire a different attorney or accountant if you are not feeling supported or you are overpaying

VENDOR RELATIONSHIPS & TRADE ACCOUNTS

In using our Services, you may view content or utilize services provided by third parties, including links to web pages and services of such parties (“Third Party Content”). We do not control any Third-Party Content and will have no responsibility for Third Party Content including, without limitation, material that may be misleading, incomplete, erroneous, offensive, indecent or otherwise objectionable. In addition, your dealings or correspondence with such third parties are solely between you and the third parties. We are not responsible or liable for any loss or damage of any sort incurred as a result of any such dealings and you understand that your use of Third Party Content, and your interactions with third parties, is at your own risk.

Our Services may enable you to link to access third party websites, platforms, content, products, services, and information (“Third Party Services”). Design Insider does not control and is not responsible for Third Party Services. You are solely responsible for complying with the terms of access and use of Third Party Services. You are solely responsible for ensuring that such access and use, including through passwords, credentials or tokens issued or otherwise made available to you, is authorized by the terms of access and use for such services. If you transfer or cause the transfer of your information to a Third Party Service, that transfer constitutes a distribution by you and not by Design Insider.

What this means as restated in our own words:

At Design Insider, we put in a good faith effort to provide you a rolodex of vendors that we truly love and work with. But ultimately, these vendors operate their own businesses independently of ours and we cannot control or guarantee that your experiences with them will meet your expectations. We reserve the right to add or remove vendors from the Rolodex based on our own experiences and/or feedback we receive from members or other sources. We also do our best to keep all website or social media links active and accurate, but we cannot ensure that products or photos from other vendors or artists remain live indefinitely. Finally, we very much encourage you to sign up for trade accounts if you are eligible. Having a trade account provides you with lower pricing, more individualized customer service, and better access to products than if you do not have a trade account. However, we can not ensure that any trade account applications will be approved. We leave that to the sole discretion of each individual vendor based on their individual requirements and your personal business circumstance. Some suggestions we can give you for optimizing your experiences with trade accounts via Design Insider, include:

• Making sure that you meet a vendor’s requirements for a Trade Account before applying

• Putting in a good faith effort to get to know the vendor’s products and customer service representatives

• Asking nicely If you have questions or would like to request an exception to a policy

• Reading a vendor’s terms of service before you purchase

• Checking lead times before you order

• Using the comments section of a vendor card to share your vendor experiences with others

• Reading the comments section of a vendor card as a part of the process of researching vendors

• Reporting any bad links to Design Insider so we can attempt to update

• Giving vendors an opportunity to repair any poor customer service experiences before leaving bad reviews

• Remembering that some trade accounts are better than none, so try signing up where you are eligible

NO REFUNDS

All sales are final, and Design Insider does not offer any money-back guarantees. You recognize and agree that you shall not be entitled to a refund for any purchase under any circumstances. In the event that this Agreement expires or is terminated, no portion of any payments previously provided shall be owed or be repayable or refunded to you. If a credit is ever issued, the credit is only applicable only toward future fees for use of the Service and is not convertible into cash or any type of refund.

We acknowledge that because our service is information, it must be kept behind a password protected account, and you are somewhat limited in what you can know about a membership before you purchase one. To provide as much transparency as possible before your purchase, we have created a non-member page to answer frequently asked questions and to provide examples of our services for your review. Once you sign up for a service, you immediately have access to all the information that our service provides, and we cannot offer you any refunds for any reason. If something feels unclear, we encourage you to ask more questions to our team before signing up for a membership, as any payment you make is final.
